New Jersey is once again the home state of not only one but two astronomical jackpot wins! The New Jersey Lottery sold two of the three jackpot winning Powerball tickets for the Wednesday, August 7 drawing. This is the first time in 20 years that two winning jackpot tickets were sold in the same state. The last time that happened was on Dec. 22, 1993 and they were sold in the District of Columbia. The third jackpot winning ticket was sold in Minnesota.
Last night’s jackpot winning New Jersey Lottery Powerball tickets were sold at: Super Stop n Shop, 24 Summerfield Blvd. & Rt. 522, South Brunswick in Middlesex County and at: Acme Markets #7858, 425 Route 9 South, Little Egg Harbor, Ocean County. Carole Hedinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Lottery said, “We ended 2012 strong with a $70 million Powerball win and the momentum continued into 2013. It has been an unprecedented year for New Jersey Lottery players. Our players have claimed four top jackpot prizes since January. Now a double jackpot win for the State is simply magical, bringing that total to six jackpots. This is an unprecedented win for the State and the residents of New Jersey who benefit from the revenue generated by Lottery ticket sales. It is good to be New Jersey.”
The Acme store and Stop & Shop stores are also thrilled to be the lucky stores that sold the winning tickets. Jim Perkins, president of ACME, said, “ACME takes great pride in being your neighborhood grocery store. Putterman continues, “Engagement in the local community is a strong part of the Stop & Shop culture. The company focuses on improving the lives of children and fighting hunger, works hard to be a good corporate citizen and supports countless community efforts with its time, products and monetary donations. With that said, Stop & Shop will be making a donation to the local community of South Brunswick and will announce how and when it will be distributed at a later date.“
