New Jersey is once again the home state of not only one but two astronomical jackpot wins! The New Jersey Lottery sold two of the three jackpot winning Powerball tickets for the Wednesday, August 7 drawing. This is the first time in 20 years that two winning jackpot tickets were sold in the same state. The last time that happened was on Dec. 22, 1993 and they were sold in the District of Columbia. The third jackpot winning ticket was sold in Minnesota.

Last night’s jackpot winning New Jersey Lottery Powerball tickets were sold at: Super Stop n Shop, 24 Summerfield Blvd. & Rt. 522, South Brunswick in Middlesex County and at: Acme Markets #7858, 425 Route 9 South, Little Egg Harbor, Ocean County. The winning numbers are: 05, 25, 30, 58 and 59 and the Powerball Number is: 32. The Acme Market also sold a $10,000 third tier prize winning ticket for the drawing also.

The annuity jackpot for the Aug. 7 drawing was $448 million with a cash value of $258 million. Split between three winners, each New Jersey ticket is worth $ 86,054,355 before taxes. The Federal Taxes at 25 percent will be: $21,513,589, the NJ State taxes at 3 percent will be $2,581,631. The net prize amount will be $61,959,135.

Carole Hedinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Lottery said, “We ended 2012 strong with a $70 million Powerball win and the momentum continued into 2013. It has been an unprecedented year for New Jersey Lottery players. Our players have claimed four top jackpot prizes since January. Now a double jackpot win for the State is simply magical, bringing that total to six jackpots. This is an unprecedented win for the State and the residents of New Jersey who benefit from the revenue generated by Lottery ticket sales. It is good to be New Jersey.”

The Acme store and Stop & Shop stores are also thrilled to be the lucky stores that sold the winning tickets. Jim Perkins, president of ACME, said, “ACME takes great pride in being your neighborhood grocery store. The Little Egg Harbor ACME, along with all of our New Jersey stores, is thrilled to be the store that sold one of the winning Powerball Jackpot tickets. We extend our congratulations to the lucky winners.” Arlene Putterman, Manager, Public and Community Relations at Stop & Shop New York Metro Division said, “We are thrilled that our store had a lucky Powerball winner and hope it wasone of our loyal customers. There is a party atmosphere in the store with associates and the community equally excited. While we have received confirmation from the New Jersey Lottery that we sold a lucky ticket, we are still waiting for final validation of the ticket.”

Putterman continues, “Engagement in the local community is a strong part of the Stop & Shop culture. The company focuses on improving the lives of children and fighting hunger, works hard to be a good corporate citizen and supports countless community efforts with its time, products and monetary donations. With that said, Stop & Shop will be making a donation to the local community of South Brunswick and will announce how and when it will be distributed at a later date.“

Both jackpot ticket selling retailers will receive a bonus commission of $30,000.
